New York's First Urgent Care Center
Founded in 1981, IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CARE was the first Urgent Care Center in New York State.
Often, many people believe that the terms 'emergency room' and 'urgent care center' mean the same thing, but this is not the case. It is true that both types of facilities provide immediate medical attention but there are significant differences.
What is an Urgent Care Center?
When an individual collapses or suffers from some type of immanently life-threatening condition, they must to be rushed to a hospital emergency room. This is because an ER is connected to a hospital and if the individual collapsed due to a serious cardiovascular or other medical condition, a cardiologist or qualified surgical team will be present to attend to their needs. On the other hand, if someone has more minor injuries or is suffering from a less imminently threatening condition, they can visit an urgent care center for treatment by a qualified medical professional.
